FedEx has taken delivery of its first diesel-electric hybrid delivery trucks.
Manufactured by Hino, they can each achieve just over 11km per litre of diesel, 30% better than a pure diesel vehicle, claimed FedEx.
“The addition of these vehicles is the latest milestone in our drive to advance and adopt hybrid technology into the FedEx fleet,” said David Cunningham, president, Asia Pacific.
“We are making progress towards our long-term goal of improving the fuel efficiency of FedEx’s vehicle fleet by 20% by 2020.”
FedEx said it now operated 329 hybrid electric and electric vehicles and more than 2,100 alternative-fuel vehicles and equipment around the world.
