DB Schenker centralises Asia Pacific IT
New facility in China will bring region-wide process improvements
DB Schenker is to centralise its Asia Pacific IT operations in a 1,500sq metre service centre in Nanjing, in what is the first initiative of its kind for the organisation.
The €1.5m (US$2m) investment at Jiangsu Software Park is expected to achieve payback in less than three years, through the cost efficiencies it will generate.
Chief information officer Peter Schumann said the centre had the potential to become a pilot to deliver more efficient and standardised processes for the group around the world.
“To compete in the long-run, companies need to constantly assess and adjust their IT strategy with meaningful investment in technology, infrastructure and process improvements.”
The new centre will pool IT functions such as application development, maintenance, application operations, information and communication and help-desk.
