MK Airlines has completed its first revenue flight as a UK-owned and certified cargo carrier, after an 18-month process satisfying the requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority.
CEO Mike Kruger, who acquired the shares of the MK Airlines Group in partnership with Jackson Aviation in July, described the flight as "an extremely proud milestone in our history".
MK's first UK-registered B747 made the inaugural flight to Africa. Five more B747s will transfer to the UK register, while MK's fleet of DC8s will remain registered in Ghana.
Kruger paid tribute to the Flamingo Group, a shareholder in Jackson, and clients including Panalpina for their support of MK.
