The Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council Australia (CBFCA) is to launch a Diploma of International Freight Forwarding this month, the first of its kind in Australia.

In conjunction with the International Trade and Logistics Council (ITLC), the part-time course is designed for Australian freight workers who already have industry experience and is taught via live internet sessions over four semesters.

The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (Fiata) is working with the CBFCA to ensure that the Australian diploma meets its stringent requirements for the awarding of the Fiata Diploma.

The CBFCA is confident that it will achieve validation of its course with Fiata, which will then allow CBFCA graduates to receive the Fiata Diploma upon completion of the course.

CBFCA manager of professional development and training Bill Murphy said: “The Fiata Diploma is the most highly recognised qualification for international freight forwarders worldwide.

“The completion of the Australian Diploma of International Freight Forwarding opens up a large number of career opportunities for Australian graduates to enter the global market of international freight forwarders and from there, the sky’s the limit.”
