The International Air Transport Association (Iata) has launched its paperless e-freight initiative in Taiwan, with the system operational at Taipei’s Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and Kaohsiung International Airport.

The system aims to take the paper out of the air cargo supply chain, with implementation targeted in 44 countries by the end of 2010, representing more than 80% of global air freight volumes.

Iata said: “The implementation team is led by the Association of Airfreight Forwarding & Logistics, China Airlines and EVA Air."
