The launch of the first “Motorway of the Sea” (MoS) service between France and Spain which had been set to launch yesterday, will now take place next week.
The state-financed service will be operated by GLD Atlantique - a JV between LD Lines and Grimaldi Lines.
LD Lines MD Christophe Santoni confirmed that the first departure is scheduled to leave Saint-Nazaire for Gijon on 8 September at 9pm local time.
French and Spanish Transport ministers were to have officially inaugurated the service on 2 September but ’due to a change in the ministerial agenda,’ this has been put back to 16 September.
“We will be able to use these extra few days to carry out all the necessary tests,” Santoni said.
LD Lines’ Norman Bridge vessel will ply three weekly round trips between Nantes-Saint-Nazaire and Gijon.
