Nightline has been appointed by the UK’s biggest educational supplies company to handle its work with schools across Ireland.

The deal means that Nightline, which is Ireland’s biggest independent carrier, will be responsible for moving more than 100,000 parcels a year.

Seaway Logistics has been appointed as cargo booking agents for Rix Baltic Lines, Hull.

The company, which started trading on 23 August, will offer a fortnightly break bulk lo-lo service direct to Klaipeda, Lithuania, and a fortnightly direct service to Riga. It will also offer a monthly break-bulk service to Szczecin.

IT software specialist Four Soft has won a new contract to supply US-based forwarder, non-vessel operating carrier and customs broker HJM International with its order management and forwarding applications.

The contract covers HJM’s multiple global locations which serve the apparel, accessory and textile industries.

CEVA Logistics has signed a new R14 million (US$1.89m) per year contract with Rui Star Trading, a leading mining company in the carbon and iron trade.

CEVA will take charge of the ocean export of chrome ore concentrate from South Africa to the Far East, managing 4,600teus of product every year.

It will transport the material by land and store it in a depot facility in Johannesburg.

Freight forwarder PSP is currently undertaking a six-month project moving equipment round the world for competitors taking part in sailing events.

The operation began in June when PSP transported equipment in a 40ft container from France to Houson, Texas. The package was then transported by rail to California for the Finn Gold Cup and Finn Silver Cup.

Once the Finn Gold Cup is over PSP will oversee the next stage of the journey, which will involve the equipment being transported by sea to Freemantle in Australia for the Perth International Regatta.
