RH Freight has launched a daily service from its Thurrock depot in the UK to the port of Travemunde in northern Germany, where it connects with a daily sailing to Helsinki.
Before this service, consignments from the UK to Finland had only departed on two days a week. This limited schedule meant that if a departure was missed, it could be several days before goods could be shipped.
RH will deploy double-manned trucks that can operate every day in both directions.
Deputy MD Andrew Baxter said, “Offering a daily service to Finland has been a long-term aim.
“The route via Travemunde allows us to offer a 72-hour express product, better than anything else on offer in the marketplace.
“At the moment, about a third of the groupage we carry to Finland is being transported on this route.”
RH Freight operates the largest number of trailers travelling between the UK and Finland, giving it the high level of volume required to operate the daily service.
