Our client offers worldwide logistics through a global network of 80 owned offices. Their ambitious growth strategy has led to a newly created role for the next step in the development of the Ocean Product. They wish to appoint a strong global product leader who will be responsible for further development of strategy, services, and relationships with carriers, development of pricing models, business development and expanding the ocean product awareness throughout the organisation.
The Global Director - Ocean Services, will be a key member and leader within the executive management team and be directly responsible for the Ocean Freight forwarding product on a global scale, working in close cooperation with 4 Regional heads to drive through the commercial direction for this critical product offering. The candidate will support the development of a solid global Ocean Freight product that will be responsive to customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead commercial strategy implementation and execution for the Ocean Product
Build strong relationships with key carriers across the globe and negotiate global/ regional pricing agreements
Develop relevant ’Core Carrier’ Programs to maximise profit opportunities
Support and if necessary lead in global/regional RFQ/RFI opportunities with current and potential international clients
Support sales in presentations and meetings with key accounts and develop sales and marketing tools
Assume P&L responsibility for the Ocean product in the entire organisation
Support local country management in setting up the right operations infrastructure to further expand the Ocean product activities
Develop Ocean gateway opportunities in close cooperation with the relative country management
Develop strategies, targets and budget recommendations with Regional Heads
We would expect that the successful candidate would possess minimum 15 years freight forwarding experience with at least 5 years at a senior management level within the Ocean Freight sector and have comprehensive knowledge of Ocean transportation on a global scale. Also you should be fully conversant with MS Office, Transportation Management Systems and network modelling. You should have a proven track record of optimising service and costs in cross border transportation, experience in budgeting processes and possess carrier negotiation skills and comfortable in negotiating with ocean carriers for cross trades.
