Geodis has acquired Italian logistics business Bertola, which has key customers in the FMCG, textile and automotive sectors, and becomes one of Italy’s top-three logistics operators.
Geodis said the acquisition had increased its warehousing in Italy by 286,000sq metres and gave it a presence in Veneto, the country’s second-most important logistics region.
Jean-Louis Demeulenaere, CEO of Geodis said: “Bertola has built an excellent reputation in Italy through high-quality services.”
Bertola reported revenues of €60.9m (US$82.6M) in 2008 and has a workforce of 92.
The deal means Geodis can now offer groupage, full-truckload transport, contract logistics, forwarding and 4PL services in Italy.
