DB Schenker has increased the storage and handling capacity at its Lvoysky site, south of Moscow, for a new logistics project.
A new facility has been added to the 25,000sq metres of warehousing capacity for contract logistics services and a cross-docking terminal with an area of 6,000sq metres.
In the logistics centre, which covers an area of around 5,400sq metres, a packaging facility for parquet boards has been installed.
Parquet boards from the customer’s production facilities arrive as neutral commercial packages and are repacked before being delivered via DB Schenker’s land transport network.
Karl Nutzinger, CEO for Europe, said: “The expansion of trading and manufacturing companies in Russia we are seeing is driving logistics outsourcing, since these companies would like to reduce their logistics costs.”
