CN matches employee fundraising for Haiti
Canadian railroad sends almost half a million dollars to stricken island
Canadian National (CN) has announced that its employee relief fund for Haiti has generated more than C$460,000 (US$435,000).
The operator donated an initial $100,000 and said it would match employee donations dollar-for-dollar.
Claude Mongeau, president and CEO of CN, said: “It is a testament to the generosity of our railroaders across North America.
"The earthquake has taken much from so many Haitians, and we are pleased to be able to play a role in helping the Red Cross address some of the immense human suffering caused by this natural disaster.”
