transaid

Transaid is delighted to once again be chosen as the beneficiary charity for the IFW Awards. Aiming to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods, Transaid is working to make transport cheaper, safer, cleaner and more effective so people can have better access to healthcare, education and economic opportunities.

Transaid will be holding an amazing ’money can’t buy’ Table Draw on the night of the awards. Road crashes are the third biggest killer after HIV/AIDS and malaria and in order to challenge this Transaid ensures growth of training centres capacity and implements internationally recognised driver training and safety standards. Funds raised from the evening’s table draw will help Transaid to expand its Professional Driver Training projects in Zambia and Tanzania. Only in Zambia 1000 HGV drivers have been trained since 2009.

Last year over £4 000 was raised which contributed to reducing maternal and child mortality rates in Northern Nigeria. In sub-Saharan Africa, a woman’s maternal mortality risk is 1 in 30, compared to 1 in 5,600 in developed regions. Transaid is working to make emergency transport much more accessible, thus saving lives. We already helped to transport 245 women to appropriate health care facilities in time and to give birth safely.
