Welcome to the IFW Awards 2011
The most difficult part of getting something right is finding something to do for an encore. That was the challenge facing IFW in the afterglow of the 2010 awards.
Widely recognised as one of the most successful events in our illustrious history, the 2010 awards set a new benchmark - both for the organisers and the freight and logistics industry as a whole.
So, where do we go from here? Well, as the title of one of my favourite rock songs promises, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
The IFW Awards is this year celebrating its 15th year. In 1996 No.10 Downing Street was occupied by John Major, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was the address of a certain Mr Bill Clinton and the barbie doll was officially recognised as the most popular toy of the year. A lot has changed since then. We’ve come a long way too.
Along our journey to 2011 we have been meticulously refining the ingredients for the perfect award. As we prepare to celebrate 15 years of showcasing excellence in the freight and logistics industry, we are confident that this year’s event will be the icing on the cake.
Building on the success of last year’s show, we have fine-tuned the award categories so that they more closely reflect the changing nature of our industry. We have two new categories: NVOCC Of The Year and Small and Medium-sized Freight Forwarder Of The Year. Categories which I believe reflect the essential role played by the new breed of virtual shippers and of the burgeoning SME sector. Both represent a vital component of any growing economy.

Finally, we have also moved the awards to a new, glitzy location: Planit Embankment Gardens in Central London. Over the years, Planit has hosted a number of high-profile events for organisations including Merrill Lynch, Yahoo, ITV and KPMG. A truly worthy location for the 15th IFW Awards.
Despite the changes to this year’s awards, one thing has remained constant. The unswerving loyalty of the freight and logistics industry. Since 1996 your support has been the pillar of the IFW Awards. It has been your belief that has helped make these awards the industry’s premier showcase of excellence. On behalf of the IFW team, I would like to say thank you for the last 15 years. Here’s to the next 15. We look forward to seeing you on 23rd November.
