Panalpina expands in LA
Forwarder increases warehousing capacity to meet demand from hi-tech and fashion sectors
Increased demand from the hi-tech and fashion sector has prompted Panalpina to add around 4,000sq metres of warehousing in Los Angeles.
US MD Lucas Kuehner said: “As companies are increasingly outsourcing all but core functions, this latest expansion in the crucial southern California market is customer and market driven.”
He said the new capacity was geared towards clients that would “most benefit from broader and more comprehensive supply chain involvement”, adding: “In order to accommodate recent awards and proposed new business from existing customers in the hi-tech and couture industries, we realised that it made a lot of sense to secure the additional space, fitting it with mobile logistics racking and shelving.”
The facilities are located between LAX airport and Los Angeles/Long Beach port and mainly serve core industry vertical customers in the retail and fashion, automotive, healthcare, hi-tech and telecom market segments.
